I have always loved a good healthy smoothie in my life. Back in college, I used to stop by the Jamba Juice across the street from the building I had a class in and ordered the soy strawberry banana smoothie at least twice a week. I devoured it while listening to my professor and it would fill me up for most of the day. I thought I was being healthy back then, but little did I know I was sipping on my whole days worth of calories and sugar intake—yikes!
Over 20 years later and after becoming a mom I have tried to “sneak” veggies into my daughter Anniston’s food. At an early age I discovered that she loved smoothies. It was easy to make one big smoothie for the whole family and we all get yummy nutrients and it fills up our bellies.
During quarantine last year I started making this smoothie and I have to say it’s by far my families favorite smoothie. Plus, it’s sweet enough but doesn’t have all the processed sugar a Jamba Juice smoothie has in it.
Here’s how to make it:
Serving for 2 people
- 2 Frozen Riped Bananas
- 1 Cup of Frozen Red Cherries ( I get them at Wholefoods or Trader Joes)
- 2 Tablespoons of Peanut or Almond Butter
- 1/4 Cup of Wild Blueberries
- Good handful of Spinach or Kale
- 1 Tablespoon of Chia Seeds
- 2 cups of Almond Milk or Milk of choice
Throw everything into a powerful blender, I love my Vitamix. Add more milk if you want your smoothie with more liquid, or add less milk if you want a thicker smoothie.
I pour my smoothie into my Hyrdoflask tumbler and then top it with my favorite gluten free granola from Ocean Ranch. It’s a vanilla and cinnamon flavor so it pairs well with my Cherry-Berry smoothie! So refreshing! I’m telling you this smoothie is going to be a hit with the whole family!
