My tried and true skincare routine

I’ve been into makeup for as long as I can remember, I used to slather loads of foundation across my skin. I would brush Cover Girl mascara along my eyelashes, and globs of frosted lip gloss smothered my lips for my “everyday look.”

Ahhh, the chemicals I used to put on my face makes me cringe today.

But then, I hit my forties and makeup became less important in my routine and I needed to focus on anti-aging. Wrinkles started to appear, sun spots from all the years of sunbathing have slowly popped up and left me researching on the best skincare routine. I kept scrolling through social media to later find many bloggers and influencers talking about “clean beauty” and it sparked my attention.

One night I was up by myself watching a blogger talk about a company called Beautycounter and she didn’t push the company but instead said to go to an app called EWG Healthy Living and scan all the products you used on your skin. This app allows you to scan or type in products where they have been tested and rated—low hazard all the way to high hazard. That night I was shocked to find out that 90% of the products I put on my skin were in the category of high hazard.

Right then and there I majorly switched up my routine. I dumped out all my makeup and skincare products in the trash, and reached out to a Beautycounter rep I knew from my daughters preschool. She not only educated me but days later I became a consultant and started my clean beauty journey.

Three years later I have completely switched 95% of my products to Beautycounter and my skin has never looked better. It’s brighter, barely any breakouts, and feels so clean and fresh.

Here’s My Skincare/Makeup Routine:

• Beautycounter Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil ( EWG Verified)-This face wash is a spa in beautiful glass pink bottle with a gold pump. It smells like citrus while cleansing and moisturizing your skin, as soon as you wash face it washes away all your dirt and makeup. I use this everyday in the morning and at night.
• Beautycounter Counter + All Bright C Serum ( EWG Verified)-This is a new product Beautycounter came out with over a year ago and it’s a favorite to many. It glides on your face with a lemon smell and instantly puts a glow to my skin. I use this every morning after I wash my face.
• BeautyCounter Brightening Facial Oil #1– Give me all the oils for my skin. I have dry skin, and my favorite thing to do is to moisturize my skin to keep it glowing. This yummy oil goes along way, so one little squirt in the palms of my hands and then I rub it into my skin and neck.
• Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ( Rated 3 Low Hazard)-Ahhhh this is a favorite product in my makeup bag. A little coverage with sun protection all in one tube. This has replaced all the harsh foundation I wore for years and my skin feels refreshed and protected.
• Beautycounter Skin Twin Creamy Concealer ( Not Rated yet on EWG)- I have had dark circles most of my life so covering them has always been in my daily routine. This creamy concealer not only has great coverage but it comes in a tube with a wand so the application is super duper easy. It also lasts for a long time, I use it daily.
• Beautycounter Satin Powder Blush (Nectar)– Some women have to wear lipstick to feel alive, I have to wear blush. I look in the mirror and I need a little color to feel awake. My favorite color blush is Nectar. It’s not to pink or orange, but it brightens up my face to help me look alive and well!

That’s it! My routine is simple. I feel so good knowing that all the products are either EWG verified or in the low hazard category. Plus, most of the products are anti-aging and really have made difference with my skin. I have rosacea on my cheeks and since switching I haven’t had a flare up. Plus, my skin barely breaks out and my sun spots are not erased but have definitely diminished. Three years later and I’m still in love with the Beautycounter products, their packaging is on point, and they’re always climbing the ladder to the next best product.
